Hi,

I have a new 24 UK Gallon set up which is 10 days into a fishless cycle. I've just noticed that there are very thin small white worm like creatures crawling around inside the tank at the front. Is it normal to have strange things like this growing in my tank without any fish? what are they and what should I do about it? I'm a bit worried that they maybe some sort of parasite that could attack my fish when I get them.. Please advise :look:

They sound like planaria, perfectly common and you will tend to see them when doing a fishless cycle. Once you get fish in there they will become a tasty snack.

You should start getting hydra soon and will no doubt get water fleas before the cycle is finished. Nothing to worry about.
