What are good beginner fish?

i used em when i started out, so IMO i say neons.

Whitey, you might have been lucky (and some people are) and your water conditions might be such that they are doing ok, but in general they are not recommended starter fish.

its funny how things get twisted in the amateur world of fishkeeping, some of the fish i now know that are recommended for beginners i would never of thought to start with, when i started out i did no research what so ever. I guess i am lucky.
