You may want to look into getting a few Otocinclus. (Common names include: Oto cat, Golden otocinclus, Dwarf Sucker Mouth) While they will take flake food and sinking pellets the natural greens are needed to provide proper health. If no algae is available they will eat the softer bodied plants. Best keep in groups the actual number will vary upon tank size. For a 10 gallon, you could safely have 3-4 in with your other fish and their fry. They are fine with most fish except the larger predatory species. Their adult size is about 1.5 inches.
While the algae may look unsightly, if this is a fry tank I would leave it. My fry's favorite pastime is picking algae from the rocks and walls of the tank between feeds and it is actually quite good for them.
Well usually I just have dwarf frogs in there, or use it as a quarinteen tank.
I put mom in there because she got a bit of fin rot and she had the babies, so I'm keeping them there and have moved my mystery fish in there too.
Well she actually had her babies on thursday, but I was only able to find one, unless there are more hiding in the plants or rocks. It's totally clear like her. Hopefully it will survive.
