I got the API test strips (one kind for ammonia and one that's 5 in 1, as they were out of the liquid kit. Ordered it though and should have it early next week.
Test strip cards are not accurate to be honest.
Is the ammonia reading higher than 0.
Some of your filter bacteria could of died off with having so little fish in the tank.
Then when you added the new fish the tank could of gone into a mini cycle.
Ok, my plan is this... continue with water changes. Wait, and if fish survive, then add 3 tetras. Not sure how long to wait? 2 weeks? Longer? Right now, my kids think the fish are at the vet, so it doesn't matter how long I wait to replace them.
Thanks.
Keep testing your water. Your test results will be more accurate when the liquid test kits arrive.
We will know more then.
I would carry on with water changes.
The problem with buying new fish is that you don't know what they could be fetching into the tank.
That why is best to have an isolation tank than can also double up as a hospital tank.
This way you can quarantine new fish for 4 to 6 weeks before adding them to main tank.
