I have got a got some from my community tank around 6 weeks old maybes, but i have since had a super batch of around 40fish. And have rescued some but waiting to sell some of the original ones so i can move them into that tank and save the rest form the community tank.

just asking how old or how big they need to be befor letting them go.

A platy less than about 2 cm is far too small for your LFS to consider. They need to be able top sell the fish to another fish keeper and that means fish big enough to judge easily. Your LFS has no place to keep your fish and bring them along to be big enough to sell. That tank space is better used, by a business, to keep fish that can be sold immediately.

Thanks for the reply. They are growing along fast should be no more than 2-4 more weeks befor their that size. I have been introducing them to micro worms along with their usual crushed up flake and egg yolk mix and they love them and growing very fast on the microworms.

Anyone else used them?

how are your baby dwarf doing? as I got a free 60l tank yesterday and might take some of your hands.

They are the slowest growing things in the world mate! they have grew a little faster since i have had the micro worms. But still abotu 10mm if that, they resemble a new born guppy at the moment. Think i only have 20 survivers or so. Lost a load to some fungus after i thought they where coming on so strongly lol. I have a big bubble nest in the tank atm, so think their will be eggs in a day or two so might start the process again trial and error.

Got some baby endlers on the go at the moment too but still in the big tank (not enough space to remove and rear so hoping they are clever enough to not get eaten), also regular guppys in the other tank, keeping them all seporate, as they are wild red chested endlers so dont want to breed out the wild strain :)
