Could be stress, remove the female anyway, they really shouldn't be together, and see how he goes :) You would assume if anything that the male would bully the female, but females are more aggressive that you'd think. She might be stressing him.

Im not going to explain it all as it is there in the FAQ Topics that you are SUPPOSED to read before everything etc. But he may have marble genes in him to change colour :)

the general concensus is if a male and female are kept together, it's only a matter of time before a bloodbath ensues. what size tank are they in?

p.s. LFS will lie to get your money, fact.

No, i wasnt being sarcastic. Ive had to answer that question ALOT recently about male/female compatibility. Truthfully i had enough. If you had read the top of the forum here you would have got alot better response from people here

After getting my bettas out of their cups, i experince emminse colour changes in them.

My betta is apparently very happy, makes large bubble nest, ect,

and he's still changing. A large glowy scarlet and metallic blue is creeping through his large light blue/ white tail, and his body's colour has deepened and enirched puplle, and purple is creeping into his bottom fins.

I personally am loving the change.

You can keep females together in groups of 4 or more. You cannot keep 2 or 3 females together. They will fight. There needs to be a distribution of aggression.

You need a 10 gallon tank to keep 4 to 6 females together.

Its probably best that both fish live in their own tanks. Though i have heard of people successfully keeping male and female bettas together (more or less luck really), they may wake up one day and say "hey i dont like you" and soon you've got 2 ripped up fish. Its extreamly stressful for the fish to be in there together and that probably explains the change in coloration. Once the fish are seperated they should just fine. :good:

I dont think anybody meant to be harsh with you, if they were then they are very wrong in doing so. You did not know, you only did what the LFS guy suggested, and anyone else here under the same circumstances would have done the exact same thing.

BTW: Most things that the LFS people will tell you is complete BS, so take any of their advise with that in mind, always need a second opinion.

you people can be harsh sometimes. its not like i knew i was endangering them... and i'm obviously gonna rectify this mistake asap. :grr:
Are you talking about my reply? :/ Because I didn't say anything harsh. I only said what I know.
