We've Got Babies!

We found 5 tiny fish while changing the tank.....we don't know what they are yet, either gups or platties, so we'll have to wait to find out, but it was so exciting.

They look like tiny weenie sticks with big eyes.

Congratulations! I've found Platy fry tend to be a bit more colorful when born, and also slightly 'fatter'. It's not a big indication, and I'm not sure you can even distinguish what I'm talking about. I think looking at them for 8 years hasn't been good for me.

Anyway, it will be exciting to see how they grow up! Keep us updated!

hi! i found 5 guppy fry today! by the way you make them sound they are guppies!!!! because plats have a little colour....mines are the same as you described but have a red tummys....

Mine have 65Litres of water to roam about in without having to worry about any fish, they are nosey little fella's, mine are only 3 days old, When can you start to tell if they are male or female- in other words how long untill they get good finnage?

The first indication of sex is usually a small gravid spot on the females. This can be present VERY early. Then the gonopodium starts forming on the boys, after a few months.
