As a lot of you know, I just got these Gold Shoulders from Frank on Thursday. This goes to show you the quality of fish he has. After 3 days, they are already spawning:

Not the greatest pictures in the world, but they didnt like me being around and actually stoped for about 5 minutes, so I left the room. I will check on them later and see how many eggs there are :good:

That is just brilliant Barracuda.

Congrats, they are amazing and I thought those females looked mighty plump the other day in those pics you posted.

Look forward to hearing about the eggs progress and the fry. Are you collecting the eggs??

Good luck.

:D

I was able to save some eggs. It was the smaller female and she didnt lay that many. I think I disturbed them and they never really started back. They are still very skittish and settling into their new home.

Hi Barracuda518 :)

I knew they would!

I think I messed them up. They never did start back after I saw them. I was just turning the light on to check on them and to feed them. I was able to save maybe 10-15 eggs. Do they spawn as often as the bronze C. aeneus? If they do, then I might have a problem on my hands

Hi Barracuda518 :)

It could be just that they didn't lay many eggs, being that they have just changed locations and all. I bet you'll see more next time. It's also possible that the other fish in the tank ate some of them.

Don't worry, you will be getting a lot more of them. My Gold Shoulders are prolific spawners and give me a batch every week. It will be a lot easier to manage them if you put them in a species tank without the plants. Mine put the eggs right on the glass in an area that gets a good water flow from the filter. They are sticky eggs and not difficult to move at all. :D

Before you know it, you will have more corys than you know what to do with! :hyper:

Too late for that!! :fun:

EDIT: BTW, Do the eggs hatch in 3-4 days like the bronze? Same requirements right? They didnt give me much time to research!

The plan is to have them in a species only tank. Turns out there were 7 sent to me as well :good:
