Yup. I bought Guppies. 5 of them...2 females and 3 males. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think Guppies are bad looking or anything, but the fact that everyone and their mother has them, just sorta turned me off. Not to mention the only colors I could ever get around here were the reds, oranges, and blacks, and I didn't want colors that everyone else had. :(

I'm picky I know. :p

So I went into one of my lfs yesterday, and guess what I found... Guppies that just about blew my socks off with their color. They were labled as Flamingo Guppies, and I guess thats referring to their color. They are a mixture of peach, tangerine, cream, bright yellow, with a hint of minty green  ...yes, yes, I know, I'm very collor descriptive this time of the morning...but those are the colors. :p Even the females (which I think are what really turned me off to Guppies, becaue they were always so gray and drab) have beautiful coloring...cream colored bodies, with all of the other colors in their tails. 2 of the males are snakeskins as well, and that irredescent sheen just looks amazing on their brightly colored bodies. :D

So yeah...I own Guppies now. And honestly, they really aren't that bad, now that they are here sitting right next to me. So I think I love the Guppy now.

Heehee! Sorry bout my long posty...I just don't have pictures of these guys yet and I wanted you guys to get a feel for what they look like. :*) :p

Hey Arashi,

I bit the Bug aswell, Now that I can go back to Small Fish.

I got some New Neons, Sparkling Gouramis and Some Red Tuxedo Guppy's. Gonna get some Endlers In the Morning.

They sound really beautiful, can't wait to see pics.

Welcome to GuppyWorld :D :D Great place, it gets better to, wait till they have babies. :fun: :fun: :fun:

They sound lovely. Can't wait to see pictures! But you may want to pick up another 2 or 3 females, so they don't get so stressed out. I try to keep at least 2 females to every male.

I was thinkikng the same thing about getting some more females. And you probably need to get a smaller growout tank so when they do have babies. It's not if, it's when. They will have babies and there is no stopping it. That is the only thing that is keeping me from having guppies again. I love them to death, but don't want a smaller growout tank. If they didn't eat their fry and I could just leave them in there then I would have several of them. Good luck with the little guys.

If you don't care if they eat 'em, you don't need another grow out tank! ;)

That is true. Just depends on if that bothers you or not. It doesn't really bother me but if they were to have some I would kinda like to raise them. I am thinking about getting some for my 30g to go along with my cories I currently have and the dwarf gouramis I am planning to get. I know if I do get gouramis then guppy fry will for sure get gobbled up.

I know what you mean about "seen everywhere." The most common female guppies I have seen are either ones that look like mosquito fish or ones that have "leopard colored" tails. The ones you have sound awesome! Make sure you get pictures soon! :p

Wow! Thanks for all the wonderful comments guys!

I can't wait to take pics of these fish...since they've been in this tank, they have seriously colored up...even more so than before. It's amazing. The colors are so bright. And the females have aquired stripes now! They each have a tangerine colored stripe right across their backs, and another one right down the lateral line of their cream bodies.

As for getting more females to the males, I was a bit worried about that when I first bought them... -_- But seeing them together in the tank, I'm seriously not worried at all. The males ignore the females most of the time and just chase each other around...maybe they're gay... :hyper:  But I will keep an eye on them, and if I need to, I will buy more females.

Oh and I already have a growout tank for babies...I do already own Platies, Swords, and Mollies ya know. :D  I just love baby fish!!!! :hyper:
