Well Chuffed

they should not be kept with live bearers, or anything with long fins, these little buggers will kill a betta any day

well mine are in with 4 small angels ( til tomorrow at least lol) about as long a fins as you can get and no probs whatsoever. the only time they ever show any agression at all is when defending their "patch"

ive read this on a few websites, i guess it depends on the temperament of the individual fish

thanks for all the kind words and advice peeps. wouldnt like to comment about the bettas truck as no experince with that but from experience they seem to be fine with neons etc

Your kribs will be certain to defend their territory against all intruders for a while. That means that any other fish in their territory are only there at risk. The kribs can be very good parents but such is not always the case. Good luck with their care of their fry. I find cichlids like this especially challenging because I really understand livebearers much better. There are many people that feel that kribs are really easy to care for because they are such good parents. I am not ready to disagree but have had no success raising my kribs. Although they are considered "easy" cichlids, my own experience is along the lines of livebearers and I cannot say with any assurance from personal experience, what it takes to raise them.

well today only about half of the fry remain. i suspect the male has been snacking on them. this is after all their 1st ever brood. my sev took a few 1st day but only half a dozen or so. and everything else gets chased away my sev has since shown them no interest so its either they have just died or mr krib has been snacking .
