Well _ _ _ _ _ _ Off

Interesting that you say that about your filters. for my new fry tank I just threw a spare 10gal filter on for the first few days (hadn't used it in months) until I could go out and get a bigger one. I didn't rinse it at all or even replace the filter media, just whatever was in there and added a chunk from my other established tank. few days later I had a new one and i just took it out of the box and hooked it up. no rinsing.

now that I think of it I really should have but I haven't lost a single fry since. I doubt it has anything to do with the filters. what are your water stats right now?

nitrite/nitrate/ammonia/ph

Maybe something toxic found its way into your tank. Just imagine, a few drops of any toxic chemical in a smaller tank would be enough to kill everything off.

sorry for ur loss, I would have suggested taking out the filter that u thought was causing issues, and then doing like a 80-90% water change, and then investigating the filter to see if it became contaminated or something.

The only changes was adding the second filter. I had left the filter in cupboard for a few days and added it today i didnt rinse it today thou. just put it straight in and run it.

Ow well my gourami just died :(

was the filter second-hand or brand new?

Seond-hand - may have had something nasty in it.

Brand new - the manufacturing process of any of the component parts may have left something behind that was harmful. Heavy metals for example.

Unfortunately I doubt we'll ever figure out the exact cause for your wipe-out. A horrible thing to happen and frustrating because there is little you can learn from the experience.

I forgot to mention guys my 3 ammano shrimp survived. They are in my cherry shrimp tank now. Didnt realise how big they where.

That's very odd. Shrimp are usually the first to go, which makes this scenario all the more confusing. I doubt it was ammonia, nitrite or exposure to chemicals as that would have killed the shrimp for sure.

so sorry for your loss. I recently had a loss of my own when it came to my tanks, so I am there with you...hope for the best as you regroup :)
