I though folks might enjoy seeing what happens when one drops Hikari algae wafers into a tank with some assassin snails

All mine do is mate! Still have the same amount of snails.

Some! I have 3 and they killed every pond snail I had...

Wow!  I have algae wafers (not sure what brand) and they never do that!

Wow! Would hate to be that algae wafer. Do assassins eat each other or can they differentiate between food and friend?

I have neither snails nor assassins now, but that's a feature of having central american cichlids I suspect. My ellioti seem to like eating snails, and I have about 50 of them at the moment spread across various tanks. It's a method of clearing snails that I hadn't tried before but is proving very effective.

When I had assassins they never did much more than bury themselves and eventually die off. Would love to know how you got so many, they've been a bogey stocking item for me.

I have certainly had that same thing happening when I had oodles of assassins. In my case, the hilarious part was watching the cories shoving the assassins out of the way. 9/10 the assassins would land upside down.

And here I thought mine wouldn't like algea wafers (as they're carnivorous), so I've been dropping in pure protein tablets that he loves to eat whole. Sometimes I wonder if he's eating enough when I don't have any pest snails...

Great pics though!
