hi, i was looking around at indoor ponds and water troughs etc as i dont have a garden.

i was thinking about weird things and fish at the same time... and if you've managed to keep heathy fish in weird things.

like huge champagne glasses for betta's.
bath tubs for marine fish.
or piggy banks etc
etc
you know like, random household stuff or just strange objects for un-ordinary looks.

just thought itll make for a interesting thread for that odd taste of weird home improvements =p.

Most do badly in cramped conditions, leaving most things that fit in households non starters.

I have however kept fish in water butts and water storage tanks, although that's not all that weird.

Without the bubbles, right?

i was wondering how piranha would look in a heated black indoor pond with sand bottom and a few branches.

Yeah, I've had quite a lot of fishy rescues in storage boxes, water butts, baths, sinks and washing up bowls, but I've never purposely kept fish in anything really 'weird'; as DrRob says, those sorts of items are usually too small or a restrictive shape.

I did read, on another forum, about someone who was going to put a tank in an old TV case and was going to stock it with black, white and grey decor and fish; I'll admit, I really did like that idea

I don't think they'd look good.

Nearly all tropical fish; even really bright ones, like rams and neons, just look brown or grey from above. For viewing in ponds, you really need fish that have been bred for that purpose; the fancy goldfish is the prime example.
