Weird snail behavior

I went to my LFS yesterday and saw that they had really pretty golden snails with white bodys. I almost bought one but then noticed that most of them were floating. Were they dead or sick? Also, what kind of snail do you think they were?

No, floating is completely normal behavior. My mystery snails do it all the time.

In regards to your questions of what species the snails could be, from what you've told me, they sound like Pomacea bridgesii or mystery snails. For more snail info, check out Applesnail.net
