Weird Ambition...

Anyone else got a really weird ambition?
 
I watch an awful lot of animal welfare programmes and, oddly, I've always wanted someone to report me to the RSPCA, so I could have an inspection Just because I'm very proud of my animals, and the way I care for them, and no-one else is in the least bit interested! I have a friend who told me once that the best way to know if you were looking after things properly was to imagine that the RSPCA was going to bring around an expert to inspect you that day, and you should not feel ashamed to show any expert, any animal in your care.
 
So, do any of you guys have an odd or weird ambition?

Well I'm not sure about the RSPCA, but the ASPCA here, as well as local animal control and protection services, are very lacking. So long as you can provide food and water and shelter to an animal (mainly cats and dogs), and there aren't any signs of horrible abuse (although some abuse appears to be tolerable; I've reported several times a man who regularly beats his dog with a stick to no avail), the authorities won't do much.

The best way to assess the situation in your own home is to look at a reputable animal shelter's home requirements. For instance, a shelter I would use suggests seven foot fences, not chain link, plenty of grass, at least one shady area large enough to cover at least three times the dog, etc for a pit bull.

I have always wanted to go on a dog fighting bust but that is incredibly dangerous and in reality I would rather just make a phone call to the appropriate organizations.

Yeah, I do have to say, much as I support the RSPCA, their knowledge of fish, in particular, is very poor

I lost count how many times I got reported to the RSPCA when I had my old lurcher Roxy. People would see her and jump to the conclusion she was ill and call the RSPCA. They would turn up, blustering about "cruelty and neglect" about my dog that walked with a limp and demanded to see her. Once I explained that when she was 10 months old she broke her neck in an accident, then showed them the vet bills and called my vet and got her to speak to the officer they would leave quite shocked. Roxy's resulting brain damage put her life span at between 3-5 years, yet she passed away 2 years ago aged 17, she outlasted my vet who origionally treated her.
 
 
My odd ambition would be to turn my little fish rescue into something bigger, so I could rescue more fish

Fish rescue is a good one. My odd ambition was a breed by request network. Get with several LFS and see what rare or uncommon species they want to see in their tanks to sell and then breed them upon request. That way they would have a local supplier.

This is not in the way of being reported to anyone but my weird ambition or probably 'unattainable dream' is a better description, was to have a massive fish pond under the floor in my front room that leads out to the garden, the floor would be glass so you can see right down into the aquarium whilst watching tv and eating your dinner! Wouldn't exactly know how that would work but that was my ambition- to have aquarium floor when I was a kid!

My parents got a visit from the RSPCA when I was a girl because of our Alsation who would bark her head off.  When the RSPCA turned up and saw how healthy she was they said there was no problem and left.
 
Star4 - that's a lovely story about your lurcher.  Many people would have passed the dog on to be somebody else's problem and expense but it must have been difficult when people judge you like that.
 
My ambition has always been to write a book.  The kids will both be at school from next term so maybe I'll have the chance to give it a go
