Ok, so I am under the impression that one should do a large (like 90%) WC with Bettas at least weekly to replenish oxygen etc. in the water when there is no filter or airpump in the tank... Am I wrong?

What is a good amount for WCs for Bettas per week? I have been doing large water changes weekly since my Betta tanks don't have filters or air pumps, just heaters, with no ill effects so far, but I have heard that 80% - 90% is too much... Thouhgts?

I just replied in your other topic and reading this I still agree. I'd do 90-100% twice a week in a tank with no filter. The ammonia levels will just get too high :)

3-4 times a week for a gallon? I read somewhere that changing your betta water too frequently can cause stress to your betta because they have to adjust to the water over and over again. Like once a week for a gallon a week sounds good? Maybe im wrong, but I think it sounds logical. 3-4 times a week is a must for anything below one gallon tho.

On my one gallons they get full water changes every third day. But I gravel back any dirt on the bottom and top of their tanks (10%-20%) every day.

If you ever wonder if 100% twice a week is too much for a betta, try putting him or her in a bare bottom tank for a week. Trust me when you can see what they are actually putting out....
