My male finch has been biting off my females feathers so I decided I was going to look through there cage and see what the heck was going on. They had no bedding material so that might be it. But I saw something else...THEY HAD AN EGG IN THE NEST! I gave them nest making stuff and The egg will most likely not hatch because my Female is really old.

Oh but how exciting is that anyway!! very cool.

I know this happens to budgies, but not so sure about finches... if they've been getting a lot of calcium, or just the calcium they need, they will lay empty eggs, even without a male around. I'm think it was to get rid of extra calcium or something... but it might be that there really is an egg with a baby birdy inside!!
