Ways to wash driftwood for going straight into the tank are there any?

to be honest the way he looked at me earlier when i said i was thinking about returning the fish and why he looked a bit guilty maybe he is on this forum who knows lol

i would but i tend to stay off social media as it bores me im more a walk up and talk kinda guy

Definitely get the CAE out of the aquarium whilst still small enough not to put up a fight

Or would I need to leave it the recommended 24-48 hours?

I have never boiled or soaked wood. Boiling is unlikely to have any benefit (assuming store-bought aquarium wood here, which you subsequently confirmed was the source). But it does break the wood fiber up, which means the wood will break apart and rot much faster which is another problem you don't need. As for soaking, the only reason to do this is to get it waterlogged so it stays down rather than floats. I use Malaysian Driftwood which sinks without this, it is heavy. Never had issues with this wood. The tannins are not as bad as with some other wood, but tannins are not detrimental anyway so that is mere aesthetics as they will eventually dissipate.

It's apparently quite different in the States, or Dahn Under, but we used to be able to get hold of bogwood.
This was wood dug out of peat bogs and was really solid and totally free from any air.
All you needed to do to it was to soak it, if you wanted to reduce the tannins.
Hard to come by now, apparently, as it's not eco-friendly.

Thoughts?

Nice aquarium and now that the CAE has gone, you may well find more activity too, certainly be a more relaxed activity

Glad you got the refund for the CAE.

Yep things already look more peaceful and the driftwood supported by the Rockery really adds a focal point :)

thanks for the advice everyone!

I’m really pleased with the outcome

There what I went for but my lps had there usuall rubbish(plants looking a bit dead) and the chain shop only had moss balls so I guess I’ll be going hunting again tomorrow after work
