I have a CT male in a 10g (US) aquarium, and he's been living alone, but I decided to introduce a couple of cories into the tank. He was okay for the first couple of hours, but now he's ruthlessly pursuing them  I've taken him out of the tank and placed him in my spare/hospital tank, leaving the cories in (much appreciated) peace. Is it possible that he'll mellow out after some time alone? Like maybe he'll forget that he's been a territorial little jerk? Any advice is appreciated!

i trained my male gourami to leave my feamales alone by chasing him away from them with the handle of my net every time he went after them. a betta being aggressive as nature intened him to be though i dont know if this will work. but its workth a shot, my male betta loved his african dwarf frog, he wouls actually sit and watch him hop around. they where a good pair.

Before you reintroduce him, rearrange the decorations in the tank. This will make him think he's entering a new territory and might make him less aggressive. At the moment he's thinking "get out of my house" but rearranging the decoration will make him think he's out in public! Haha!

You could try taking him out, completely re-arranging the tank, adding the cories and then finally adding him. It's supposed to make him feel like he's in a new territory that belongs to the cories and not to him.

Re-arranging the tank would be a good idea, but you could also buy a divider.Place it in the tank and leave 2-3 gallons for your betta with some plants. If you choose this option make sure you put decor near or against the divider, to limit your betta from stressing out when he sees your cories.Unless you have a tank that is established and large enough to house your betta (with heater, filter, decor, ext.) , re-homing him is a good option too.

I'm going to rearrange the tank and add some new decor, and then give him another shot. If he can't behave, I'm going to divide the tank. The tank he's in isn't large enough to house him permanently, so I'll have to move him back into the 10g eventually. I can't re-home him! He may be a little monster, but he's MY little monster

Rearranging the tank should work. The first Betta I had I introduced him first without realizing how territorial he would become. Thankfully, he wasn't bright enough to realize that it was the same tank once a few plants had been pushed around. A new decoration added as well would probably help.

i have had a little expirience with this and what you can do is move around the decorations but then the betta might form a new habitat. when i added my betta to my tank he was off and on with the nipping for quite a while but after a couple days he was fine and stopped.
