which water tests do you prefer? or do you suggest any others?

1) Aqarium Pharm (AP Freshwater Kit)
2) Tetra
3) Jungle Dip Sticks

jungle tends to be a walmart brand so i stay away from it when i can

We've pretty much tried them all. At the moment we're using interpet tablets & sticks.

But we've still to find a nitrate test where the colour scale is actually readable.

i was asking bcos i did hear strips where trash...only thing i dont liek about the AP test i have there is no nitrate test

They do have a nitrate test, it's just not sold in the normal kit, the master kit will have it and they sell it seperately however.

Actually, AP only sells two kits and the rest are sold seperately for freshwater. Both Freshwater kits include Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate.

Personally I am going to be purchasing a LaMotte test kit as they are considered the best. Sir Minion, you might check these:

Although they are expensive they include a colorimeter for telling what color that is supposed to be easier to use and more accurate than anything except the electronic ones. And those things are outrageously priced...
