OK so my mother over fed my fish about a month ago now.
I did all the water changes everyone suggested.
Cleaned the gravel, cleaned the filter.
And my water is back to foggy & yellow.
And now I am getting green algae!

Is there something else I am not doing?

My tank is 10 gallons
I have a aqua tec 5-15 filter
1 undergravel filter with bubbler
11 tetras
3 ornaments
heater

This is insanity! I've never had this problem before.
Thanks for your help!

Dumb question but is the inside and the outside glass clean?

Any wood in the tank?

What ornaments? Any chance that something could be rusting??

Sure noone else is feeding the fish?

Have you stopped feeding for 3-4 days to see if that helps?

Did you switch foods?

Any chance that you substrate is leaching into the water?

What are you water stats? Do you use API liquid tests?

Have you cleaned your filter lately?

Have you stopped feeding for 3-4 days to see if that helps? didn't know this was another option? I can try that and see

Did you switch foods? same food I've been using since I got the fish

Any chance that you substrate is leaching into the water? not sure

What are you water stats? Do you use API liquid tests? my water is good

Have you cleaned your filter lately? in situations like this, how often can I clean my filter?

What about trying some carbon in the filter to get rid of the colour

sorry i am new to this. what do you mean by carbon in the filter?

Carbon is the black dust/pebbles that you can buy from LFS. They tend to come in pre made filter cartridges or small containers. The finer stuff tends to be best. You can buy a small filter bag and toss the carbon inside then place in filter. The Carbon absorbs Medication and polishes the water.

And you at least have a test kit right?

LOL. ok that's what I thought you were talking about.
I am going to buy some tomorrow.
I heard about that, so now I am going to try it.
How long do I keep it in for?

Carbon might work but it does not answer why the water is yellow.

Try to starve the fish for 3-4 days. Won't hurt the fish and worst case you save on the food cost :shifty: :shifty:

My thought was that the filter is clogged with junk and the water is just bypassing the media. I'm not familiar with your filter though.
