hi guys, this is my first post so would like to say hello to everyone first and i,could do with some help as i have a little problem with some stains on the outside of my aquarium,i have tried window cleaner and spent ages soaking tissue paper with vineger and sticking it to the tank and scrubbing with an algae brush but no joy there,a tiny bit came off after very hard scrubbing with the algae brush but it would take weeks at the rate it was coming off and the algae brush might scratch the glass,i have removed similar stains in the past with some vineger and elbow grease but these stains seem to be ingrained,i also tried a razor blade but it just rubbed off it,if anyone has any suggestions i would gladley give it a bash, cheers

Toothpaste is good apparently

just tried the toothpaste and it works like a dream, great answer and thanks a million

Glad to see that you got an answer for your problem. I was about to suggest a scrubby called a Scotchbrite. I use a Scotchbrite that is marked as non-scratching. They are the blue ones in the US. The spongy scrubbers have a decent amount of abrasiveness without having enough abrasive to cause problems with leaving behind scratches in the glass. I have had incredible success using these things on old tanks with lots of hard water deposits.
