Hello all,
I am a bit concered with my water tests on my new tank. I put 16 Lbs of live rock in my tank Friday and added another 10 lbs on Sunday.

It appears that my Ammonia has gone from 0.0-.25-.5-.25ppm over the last 4 days.

The Nitrites have lept - 0-.5-.5-2.0-2.5(roughly) - the purples are a bit hard to read.

The Nitrates have read - 0-5-10-10 over the last 4 days.

SG has been 1.022-1.023. Water temp is 77 deg.

I know the LFS had several fish in the LR tank. Should I put a few damsels in the tank?

I did put a shrimp in the bottom of the tank to feed the LR...should I take it out? or is this normal?

Thanks,
Sean

BTW - should I have the light on at all?

probably die-off on the rock. the shrimp (what kind?) may or may not make it. i wouldn't add any fish!!! wait it out. get some beneficial bacteria in there (get some sand from an established sandbed from a hobbyist, or mud from a lr growout tank...)

The shrimp I put in was a cocktail shrimp - dead already...something to help with the ammonia...the water is starting to stink a bit - like bad breath!

When should I do my first filter change? I have not touched the filter yet.

Now that you have your live rock in, you can srap whatever filter you were running.

You readings show that your tank is going through its cycle. Is this all the Live rock you are gonna have, or are you going to introduce more later?

Just keep good circulation going.

I was going to add another 10 lbs over the next 2 weeks. I have a 40L gal tank. I hope I can get the same type of LR...it looks really nice.

I tested the H20 last night and the ammonia is coming up now, nitrites are about the same and the nitrates are starting to rise...

It's alive, ALIVE!!

Sean

PS. the little tube worm won't come out of his tube anymore..maybe he died...
