Water quality

what is your ph out of the tap? and are you in a soft or hardwater area i know mine is a hardwater area... i use a dechlorintor....

Mine is relatively hard about 14 dH. If you use a dechlorinator, just give it a sec to mix with the tapwater, and add it. This way you won't have the ph prob ;)

Hi BillyBigBananas

One question i have to ask, is, did you test the pH at the same time of the day? The reason I ask this is, because the CO2 level in the tank water will change the pH reading. As the plants give off CO2 over night, it will cause the pH level to rise. As the level of CO2 is reduced during the day, the plants use CO2 for photosynthis (spelling), the pH will drop. In heavily planted tanks the pH swing can be greater than 1 over the day.
Hi Dolphin,

The first test was at midnight, after the lights had been off for 2 hrs, the second was at 7:30pm, during the lights being on. Never realised ph moved around daily, thanks for the info.

NP caz, i think you'll find it a much easier, and quicker process. Your fish will love it as well, since you will be providing them with new water that should always be close if not the same ph each time.
