trying to bring it down could be harmful or stressful to the fish if you use ph down ro soemthing similar (it is acid). bettas can adapt to just about any ph. i would leave it as it is.
That's what I've been hearing. I figure 7.5/7.6 isn't as much to worry about unless it were over 8.0. I've heard it's sometimes better to just let them adapt then add pH down.
On a very positive note, his new tank was 80 degrees when I came in this morning and during the day it sits around 82. This is with no heater what so ever in a 3 gallon tank. Is this going to be okay?
I've noticed. I use filtered water from my filter drinking water tap. It's very smooth water, takes out to chlorine and stuff. I let it sit for a little bit, add some heat to it, and the bettas love it. It works, I've been doing it for years, fish haven't gotten sick
I still need to invest on a pH kit though.. just to have for safety. I just need to get more money
The weird thing is that my .5 gallon bowl is 76-78 with a lamp over it (72-74 with no lamp) and yet my 3 gallon tank never goes below 78. It averages 80-82 during the day.
Well today the temp has gotten up to 86 degrees in my big tank. Should I be worried? I know cold is bad, but is 86 bad? It usually averages at 80-82...
My pH is 8.4 - 8.5 (digital pH tester), I just aclimatise my bettas too it and they are fine.
pH is what fish store employees care about beyond belif, but in reality, unless you are keeping discus, ect it dosen't really matter that much as long as you slowly introduce your fish to it.
