Just curious as to what other people do. I was told that you should allow the bucket of clean water to stand for at least 24 hours before being added to the tank (after water treatment has been added). Is this strictly true or is just acceptable to allow it to get to within a degree or so and then change?

It is not true as such. you can leave the water 24hours and this will pick it up to room tempture as well as lifting the gas from the water. you use treatment as a quick way of doing your water, so you put the treatment in and then after you have mixed it in you can put it in to the water, but remember to take the tempture and make sure it is the near tempture of the tank.

Do this by adding hot water from the ketal or tap. people say dont use the tap as of the copper pipes but the treatment should get rid of this pluse i use hot water from the tap and had never had any problems.
