hi,

i have a 50 litre tank and have set it up for 48hours with air bubble thing on , heater set on 27 degrees and a filter all on

in a tank full of water mixed with aquasafe... 5ml of aquasafe for every 10 litres of water

today i have put into tank 6 fish

2 guppies (these are just hiding away at top corner any reason)
2 mollies
and 2 pink tetra

i have no plants in tank but will do in a few days as there orderd:)

i have only 2 testing kits 1 ammonia testing kit and a nitrite kit

both test show up 0ppm which is good right?

my water is starting to go cloudy any reason for this?

also how much do i need to feed these fish and how often?

would taking like 10 liters or water out of my aquarium downstairs which has been running for over 4 years and putting some of that water in my tank be better or worse?

please can somebody help ,,, many many thanks to whoever does

Hello Craig,

Yes this is what you want to be seeing but because your tank/filter has been setup for a few days then expect this to change.

my water is starting to go cloudy any reason for this?
If it is a milky white in colour then its a bacterial bloom, and will clear in a few days.

also how much do i need to feed these fish and how often?
I would feed once a day and what they can eat in a period of 60secs

would taking like 10 liters or water out of my aquarium downstairs which has been running for over 4 years and putting some of that water in my tank be better or worse?
No this wont benefit your new filter, but you could remove some(no more than a third)of the mature filter media from the downstairs tank and swap it over with some of your new filter media in the new tank.

You are in what we call a fish-in-cycle going by what you have said. With your tank/filter only being setup for such a short period of time, no beneficial bacterias will have established themselves to remove the toxins(ammonia, nitrite)from your tank water. At the bottom of this post you will see a link to an article on fish-in-cycling.

Hope this helps, Keith.
