Just had a quick, probably stupid question. I have switched to stress coat as my water conditioner and it says to use 1 tablespoon for every 10 gallons. But if I am only doing 20% water changes then should I proportion the amount of stress coat used or should i just dump the whole tablespoon in the tank? Would the temporary chlorine and such harm my fish?

i personally am very finicky when it comes to chlorine, i spray my water high pressure into a bucket add anti chlorine and leave it a day or two before dumping it into my tank :) i guess you should minimize the stress coat a little but i dont think it would overly accumulate in your tank, just proportionize your dosage properly

if you change only 5 gallons of water in your tank then only use half a tablespoon to be dosed in the new water from the tap :)

you should add the declorinator to the tap water in a bucket and leave for a few mins, also adjust the temperature with boiled water, so as not to stress your fish. di

I use Stress Coat too but I never measure it out. I just squirt some in the bucket. Unless you put some enormous amount in, I don't think you can overdose the tank. I have been doing this for 4 months doing weekly water changes and haven't had any problems.

no it definitely is not cheap so i will use smaller doses for samller amounts of water. I also like the idea of adding some boiling water to adjust the temp. thanks for the replies

i used to put a thermometer in the bucket too but a degree here nor there dont really matter, esp as its mixing with your tank water, i just judge it by hand now,
