water conditioner

I was reading another topic and I was wondering how much water conditioner you use

I go by how much water im removing so if im doing a 10% I add enough the cover 12 litres, is this right or should I be adding enough to cover 120 litres??

the instructions on the bottle aren't that clear

If you do a 12 liter water change, only the 12 liters contain chlorine, so dose for the 12 litres only
