Can anyone tell me if it is necessary to leave water that has just had a commercial solution added to it, to remove chlorine or chloramine, for any length of time. The bloke at my lfs suggests leaving it for ten minutes.I have checked the instructions on aqua plus, which just recommends agitating the water for a bit.Nutrafin just says add it to the water in the correct dosageand shake well before use.Other people I have spoken to say it should do it's job more or less instantly.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Jon

It Apparently works instantly, but I always add mine as im adding the water to the bucket so it mixes it about, I dont leave it standing though.

Typically I leave water for at least an hour. Bear in mind one important reason is to help warm the water to ambient temperature prior to your water change.

During winter obviously you need to leave it a lot longer. Comes out the taps damned cold!

We have a combi boiler so I add warm water straight from the tap. :good: Just so I have said it this is not advisable if you have a hot water tank as there maybe too much copper in the water.

I put my 10L bucket in the sink, turn the cold tap on, then dose with dechlor. When the bucket is full I take it to my tank and syphon it back in next to my output nozzle to distribute the cold water.

Never had any problems.
