As a RN medic in submarines one and probably my most important job is Water chemistry now we have set methods which are drilled in now i can relate in some ways the chemistry techniques over to the aquatic testing methods but i cant think of it making a difference but can i use my known and highly accurate methods of water chemistry for PH, ammonia, nitrate etc on the water in the tank by taking a sample or should i stick with the conventional methods other fish keepers use

if your method is more accurate i would stick with it. sometimes the range on the store bought kits are broad so if you want to know the exact level, go with with what you know. however the store bought test kits probably require less time and effort. so it depends on which way you want to go.
