Wait, I'm confused. I have a 160 litre tank that is currently cycling, still early days yet, but when I finish my cycle and have to do a 90% - 100% water change and use one of the methods above, do I add the dechlorinator into the tank first with the filters off? Or add it last with the filters switched off??

Just because if it is a 100% water change and you add your dechlorinator first it would just sit on my sand =/

The common sense fairy didnt pay you a visit did it :/

Turn off filter, fill it up 50% add dechlorinator, top it up the rest of the way, turn on filter, job done? :D

Haha, she rarely pays me a visit :( Thanks for clearing this up Tizer, and actually giving me a response to my silly question :p Just want to make sure I am doing things right, don't want to work hard getting all this good bacteria to lose it by doing something stupid

I had a whole homemade system ready to go and them my local petsmart put the aqueon water changer on sale for 22.50. It was at best a few dollars more and works like a charm. It still works for vacuuming too. The only thing is that it goes much faster if I keep the water on to power the suction otherwise it's really slow at draining.

i made a homemade python for a few bucks using some garden hose and a 3 way adapter. so much better than buckets even on a 90L tank!

that's laziness for you :hyper:
