Hello,

I only have a 1 gallon container to do this water change.. I am changing 10 gallons of water which is about a 25% water change.

Can i add the cholrine remover after its already in the tank or do i need to put it in the container a little bit at a time?

Hi there

I always add conditioner to the water before i put it into the tank, otherwise putting tap water straight into the tank is not good for the fish and will kill off the bacteria(and probably the fish) you are trying to build up in your filter,

I have 4 buckets (10 litres each),which i use solely for the fish.its worth having plenty of buckets :)

Yes, you can add it after adding the water to the tank, but then you have to add enough for the whole volume of the tank rather than just the water your replacing, so its not as economical.

The bacteria wont be affected enough to worry about, as:
a ) They can probably withstand tap water levels of chlorine, since they likely came into your tank from the tap anyway.
b ) Should very easily withstand the diluted levels of chlorine when you mix tank water with tap water.
c ) Will only be exposed for brief periods of time before you add the dechlorinator anyway.

A lot of people don't even bother to use dechlorinator and have no issues, but IMO since it's not very expensive and lasts for ages (if your using a decent brand), it's well worth it as a precaution, and to avoid any temporary mild stress that could be caused to the fish before the chlorine gasses off.
