water, cables and plugs

i now that the tryed and tested methid of water running down cables to the plug socket is to have the cable drop down and then raise back up to the plug, but what if you had the dip in the cable and then put a cable tie with the bit remaining leading to a collector of sorts???, saves the surface if oyu have alot of evaporation.

the water would in theory go down the cable tie..

In this thread I posted my fine artwork featuring the drip loop. If you put something on the floor under the drip loop, it will collect the drips. I guess you mean putting a cable tie around the drip loop to give the water a path to run down to a smaller collector, in which case, as long as you have it at the right point, I think it will work.
