they have lived together in a 98 litre tank for the best part of a month with no trouble at all. allong with another opulaine,7 wags 2 more guppies

tonight the gouramis has really gone for the guppie, ripping off his tail and killing him the end......WHY??

the opulaine has always been so peaceful, but i have had probs with the nitrite in my tank over the past few days ( which is now sorted "thank goodness" but i did loose a lot of fish) could thid have anything to do with it?

Yes. Opaline Semi-Aggresive..Guppy Community.. Bound to happend...cant put a nerd and bully and not expect them to kill each other..lol

Your opaline is maturing and with this comes the aggressive nature

Basically, you put a baby fox in with a rabbit. Once it grew up, it ate it.

And for some reason, guppies seem to be the punching-bags of the fish world. I've had really docile fish that couldn't seem to help themselves when it comes to eating guppy tails off.

will have to find a nice way to point this out at my lfs,as these were the first fish i bought, and was told that they would live very happily with just about anything...tho i must add not by a reg member of staff i have since found out..

and i took everything large enough to fit in his mouth out of the tank, he now tries his luck with the dwarf gouramis, but shes no daft!!

thanx all
