:-( My son phoned me up at work today to tell me that one of my cichlids was belly up on the bottom of the tank  He put it in a breeder box till I got home to see if I could save it. I rushed home to find one of my auloncara reds (looks more like orange) on his way out. When I bought the two as juvies, I was assured that one was male and the other female, but it turned out that they were both male. Now that they have reached adulthood, they've been arguing more and more, (one of the reasons I want a bigger tank) with the larger of the two becoming quite the bully :grr: Well, it seems he finally managed to kill the smaller one :-( I could see that he was suffering, but I couldn't bring myself to euthanize him  , so my dear son did it for me by decapitating him with my very sharp kitchen chopper and then flushing him down the loo  I feel :-( and guilty that I couldn't do anything to save him.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that.. It amazes me how fast you get attached to a certian fish. I would not have been able to put him out of misery either but I know one day I may have to
