I have a community tank setup up with heavy plant life and a current stocking of 2 honeys 6 golden pencil fish 10 rummynose tetra 2 otos 3 amano shrimp and 3 sparkling gouramis. I've been wanting to get a cichlid forever and this tank has been going good for awhile now I was wondering if I could add 1 or a pair
Ohhh also this is a 30 gallon long and there are 6 dwarf cories

A pair of rams maybe, or some other dwarf cichlids. They are fairly peaceful although they can be territorial when breeding.

I've had apistogramma cacatuoides and they were lovely, very peaceful. They're cave dwellers and appreciate cover. I have a heavily planted tank like you with several caves and they were very active. I have corys, kuhli loaches, rummynose tetra, otos and lampeye killis. I ended up with just a male and he was my favourite fish, very intelligent, curious and nosy. He'd follow me up and down the tank, and the cats too when they walked past! I'd definitely have more apistos in the future. There are lots of species, have a look into them :)

There are various 'community friendly' Rams too although I've never kept those.

When you say 2 honeys, what do you mean?

I second laetacara curviceps ... such a characterful fish and so laid back and calm. They can be shy and so a pair is recommended with plenty of plants for them to chill in.

this was my male

I thought I'd let you all know I found two beautiful electric blue rams that I bought I instantly fell for the colour. I'm not sure on sex but hoping it's 2 females or a pair I couldn't find any of those dwarf flag cichlids around but these two are quite nice

nice fish, can be fussy and a bit delicate but lovely to look at. I had a pair myself but not for long. It's a long time ago now and I can't remember why they died so soon
