Wanter Before Sand/gravel

Hey guys.
My first post minus my saying hello post.
my heater filter and tap safe has all arived! what i want to know is at the moment i am not to bothered about putting and kind of gravel or sand at the bottom of my tank as yet.
if i was to fill my tank and carry out a fishless cycle would i be ok add sand or gravel later?

Yes that would be fine. Some people even cycle their filters in a just a bucket

i have heared you can use the sand which you use in a childs playpit in the bottom of your tank is this correct?

Yep! That's fine you just have to rinse it a lot to get all of the tiny particles out

Sand is far superior to gravel IMO.
