Hello I am in need of a 3-5 UK gallon tank.

No longer an emergency. Still after a 3-5 gallon around a 15-20 litre. Reasonable pricing appreciated. After glass and do not necessarily need filter or heater (can provide own) :)

I am based Bournemouth and can only travel by bus, so can not go further a field. Would not want posted.

Any help appreciated, thank you

If it is an emergency just use a container like this:

You could always rest the heater on the bottom of the box (presuming you're adding a substrate, a bit of gravel or sand maybe). Or even a smooth rock that you could attach the heater to (via the suckers) and then place the rock on the bottom.

Those plastic boxes are a great idea if it's an emergency, as you could easily pop into your nearest big supermarket and get one tonight.

If I explain the situation a little. I have dwarf puffers, unfortunately got 2 males and 2 females (they were too young at the time to identify). I am not able to return the one male as the shop is too far away and no one locally will take him. To begin with he was the dominent and bullied all the others, I have had them about 3-4 weeks, the others have grown in leaps and bounds and now push him around. I know they change colour but he has been extremely pale a couple of times I have come home, tonight being one. I am on a verge, do I take him out stressing him more and put in that kind of container above and then get him his own tank (which I could do next month)? Or do I try to rehome him (really would rather not but if it would be better for him). This morning fine and feeding well, tonight subdued.

Sorry to blab on there just very unsure how to proceed and if someone had a glass tank for me to buy then could do. Did not think of the substrate thing so will look into tomorrow ASAP (local stores all closed :()

What size tank are the dwarf puffers in at the moment?
I would suggest removing him with the sense that they aren't likely to give up on the bullying. But...I haven't ever kept puffers so I'm only going on theorys here. :)

It is a 56 litre, 14 us gallon. Dwarves need 5g for first and 3 g for every extra with ratio of 2/3 females to males. Unfortunately they are hard to distinguish when young:(. When bought there were def 1 f and 1 m and two youngers which later turned into another male.

There have been 3 occassions in 3-4 weeks that I can tell, last two times guessing so from him being so pale... It is difficult as want the best option to make him happy.

I am going to look at the selection tomorrow, another alternative I have is a 38 litre waiting for some guppies that I need to run the hang on the back filter in. I could place him in here temporarily for a month. Worried about running the filter in the tank will take about 2 weeks to get the good stuff (and also already have a 2nd filter in the tank running currently for the good stuff as well).

Thanks for all the help, sorry to blab on.

What do you mean by 'good stuff'? Do you mean until it's cycled? If so then can't just just cut up some of the media from your current puffer tank and stick it into the HOB filter on the 38l, then he can go straight in there.

Ah wanted to know if it would work that way! Right so if put some of the established media from the filter into this one, set up and good to go? As long as only replace half filter media pads at a go won't affect my established tank (mini cycles?)

Editing first post, still after a 5g tank but hopefully now not a matter of urgency.

Thank you for all your help Curiosity101 :)

A 3rd of the media from the cycled tank would probably be enough to be honest, but up to half and you shouldn't see any major effect to the main puffer tank. Keep an eye on things but the bacteria should make up the difference pretty quickly :)
Good luck
