Want To Start A Saltwater

Thats a good list from Nemo there, I would also put firefish on that list aswell, nice fish ideal for smaller tanks. I would also think about employing some good lighting, a couple of t5,s would be ideal, one white and one blue, you will soon starting wanting to add some coral, believe me its almost impossible to resist them.

A skimmer is a must imo, I would not run a marine tank without one and powerheads are also needed, marine tanks require a fair bit of water movement.

I agree with you Victor and in particular for a newbie. Small skimmer and regular weekly water (20%) changes and no overstocking and you will be away :fun:

I also suspect you will change your mind about corals even if it just zoas and mushrooms - start off with RO water and there will be less problems

Anyways, :hi: on board

ok thanks for the replies i'll do a little bit of research on those fish suggested but just so I know definately if I have live rock in there there is no need for a filter on the tank right?

Would definitely get a protein skimmer even if you have LR. Don't necessarily need it right away, but you add fish I would get one.

You'll probably want a 'clean up crew', which is a group of inverts that help by eating algae, leftover food, things like that. Astrea snails, turbo snails, nassarius snails, hermit crabs, fighting conchs, emerald crabs, and skunk cleaner shrimp, just to name a few, are all good options. :)
