Hi, i have a 30 gallon tank that i have set up purposely for plants. However my attempt to lay out a great looking scape have ended bad. I plan on bascially starting again and getting a new substrate and then wood, rocks and finally plants. I average about 2 watts per gallon and have Co2 system. Any advice that you could give to me where to shop for cool wood pieces and the lot would be greatly helpful and maby some people could help me design a scape?

I appreciate the help anyone can give me on all this!!!

A picture of the tank speaks a thousand words. Then we can tell you what to do with what you have. Keep it simple, just a full tank shot facing forward.

this is the tank after alot of trimming and frustration .....i would love to do a tank in the form of nature aquarium. Im also thinking about buying the ADA products and would also like to know which plants to buy

Im also thinking about buying the ADA products

What kind of products? Most ADA are far too expensive for what they really are and you can kind cheaper alternatives. I would only ever buy their substrate if I couldn't get Colombo Florabase.

I would plant some small foreground species at the front and then plant slightly larger species as you get closer to the back of the tank. Does that make sense?

For example,

Marsilea hirsuta at the front.
Behind that have some Staurogyne repens
Behind that have various species of Crypts.
Slope it nicely. A smooth transition from foreground to back. Trimming is important here.
You could also add a splash of colour. Maybe a read lotus lily just off centre to the middle of the tank. 1/3rd in.

well im just out there to make a nice WELL planted tank....as far as substrates im just looking for something thats not going to break the bank yet still have a nice natural color....also i was thinking about buying the branch wood from ADA website or asking my LFS to see what they could do. As far as the plants is there any good sites in the US that once again wouldnt break the bank ...and do you have suggestions the intial hard layout such as with wood and rocks?

Thanks
