I was thinking of taking a 10 gallon tank and installing a shelf for frogs/newts above the water line and allowing a few fish to inhabit the tank as well. I though I would get a piece of slate with rounded edges about 5 inches wide by a foot long. Using aquarium cement i figured I could attach 2 rectangular pieces of slate to the underside to act as legs, resting on a gravel bottom. Any ideas? Anyone tried something similar? I have successfully kept newts and frogs but always felt that it might help these critters if they could get out of the water, for a least a while. I'm an experienced aquarist.
