powerheads are usually found in freshwater tanks that are heavily planted. They ensure good flow so that nutrients and CO2 are distributed.

I've started what looks like a moss farm in my tank I hope it grows well and becomes something I can show off soon enough hehe.

Well I just picked up a Fluval U3, doesn't seem to be anything super special but I thought I'd pair it up with a HOB that pushes 150gph, so know I have a combined 300gph according to the advertised stats. Then when I get a little more money I can get an EC and move the smaller hardware to a new tank. Oddly though, around my area, the best places to shop for hardware are the big chain stores. Hardware and substrate is MUCH cheaper here than at the LFS. I guess I'll just stick to buying healthy fish from a LFS.
