Walmart betta

I finaly decided to save a poor betta that had been in walmart for a really long time. He is in dirty water and is the ugliest betta ive ever seen. Naturally the people push the ugly ones back so he has no chance. I filled up my 1 gallon for him(Still in walmart waiting for me) and put aqua safe in it to neutralize the bad stuff in tap water. I also put a little salt cause he probably will be a little stressed cause of the move. Do i have to wait for the water to cycle. Also if i do i have a freshwater tank with guppys in it can i just use some of that water maybe half tank half whats in there now .tnk people.

No need to cycle a 1 gallon, just do frequent water changes. Hurry up and go get him, I'm sure he'll be much happier in a one gallon, and I'm sure he's not ugly at all!! Post Pics so we can all see!

Just make sure to acclimate him slowly and he'll do JUST fine in that tank.

good! That poor thing! That's sad that people push an animal to the side b/c it isn't the prettiest of the bunch...

It's like adopting a child... People do that with children too; sad, sad, sad!

EDIT: anyone noticed that walmart charges more for bettas than other places, wonder why... Certainly not b/c of the hours of labor put into the care of their fish.

and they charge the same for male, or female. Probably because they can't tell the diff. They probably have to charge more because so many die. Then they have to charge double to make up for the $ loss of the dead ones. I'm sure it's not the reason, but it fits.

At my wal-mart the prices are all different. 5.47 for crowntail male.......... 3.37 for female veil........ 4.47 for male veil........

Actually, my Walmart has the cheapest bettas around, and the prices on the males and females are different. Males are about $4.99, females are about $3.99. At the LFS males are atleast 5.99, and females are $3-4.

My walmart gets credit for dead fish so that cant be it, but it does sound like a good reason.

Mine charges 3.47 all around. They only sell VTs and they have TONS of males with 2-3 females. great LFS would only have a few so they could watch after them better...

EVRY other store in my city charge 2.50 for male bettas. Hmmm. They donot sell females, so I have to get them from walmart...

My wal-mart only has about 10 at one time, which is pretty good I think. I got 3 of my crownies from complete petsmart for 2.25!!!

my wm had 30-40 MALES the last time I went in there and they had about 5-6 females. They order alot, but I dont think they sell them all. ytou know what that means...

I seriously think I am the only one in my area that buys the females. So they normally only have about 5 females there.

I live in sumter. Its quite a small city (much larger than its neigbor town tho). You're from NC aren't you...
