I have Nitrites and Nitrates!!
I'd almost given up yesterday, i even went out and bought API Stress Zyme+ today
I've come home and decided to test, thinking there would be no change and Tank 2 my latest purchase has indeed excelled its older counterpart!
i halved the mature media when i got it..so the same is in Tank 1, why is this one slower?? its been running longer too
just thought i'd share my joy!

There are many different reasons why the other tank could be slower. Just because you put half of the media in one and half in the other does not mean you got half of the bacteria. Also depends on water flow, water temp, amount of Ammonia added, as too much (8+ ppm) will cause problems, and so forth. Just take you time and keep up the good work! It will all pay off in the end!

the water flow is stronger in the slower tank (tank 1)temp is the same as the other, added less ammonia in the first tank (tank 1) it has measured 4ppm for a while now...the only thing i thought of is tank 2 had all the sand subtrate and ornament was already in from the previous owner...so may have had bacteria hiding in the sand and on the ornament?!
feel really stoopid having "invisable" fish!
so you dont advise adding the stress Zyme+ then???

I'm sure when I get to that stage, I'll be singing and dancing about it too, though at this rate, I'll probably be singing and dancing when I can just put ammonia in the bloody thing lol!
