Ok am i doing something wrong or do tanks not sit flat, ive tried it on 2 different surfaces, then put a pressure pad underneath it and can still fit a piece of paper between the tank and the pad!!! whats going on or dont tanks sit flat? do they adjust or what! im paranoid about it cracking!

Its a clearseal tank with 10mm bottom glass

the ends of the tank are bearing all the weight, and the middle is not touching the surface, even after placing a pressure pad underneath the middle of the tank is not touching the pad!

So is the stand / Table / Desk curved which is not allowing the tank to be sat on it, flat?

Ive tried it on two different surfaces and both times it doesnt lie exactly flat, the second surface i tried was a brand new piece of MDF!

That is strange that the tank wouldn't be straight. The pad is probably a good idea. It will give some relief once the tank is full. A little bit of settling in the middle will most likely not crack it. I would go ahead and set it up.

EDIT: I say this because I have had a similar problem although I think it was the surface and not the tank that was the slightest bit off (like you said, paper would be a good way to describe the gap). It was a cast iron stand and the way they soldered it was a bit off. I went ahead and set up the tank and it was fine. It settled onto the surface and there was no cracking. Just thought I'd clarify that the opinion above was not just a random thought out of nowhere..

Is a pressure pad the same as styrofoam padding? because I use styrofoam padding under my tank to keep it level and it is working good (and dosen't even look as bad as I thought it would, would even come close to saying it makes it look better!)

Yea its like a black spongey pad, like i said both the ends of the tank sit nicely on it but theres a slight gap where the middle of the tank doesnt sit right on it like i said i can fit a piece of paper underneath it but i thought the pad would help even it out :/ .....but once its filled will weigh more so maybe it will settle onto the pad then!

I just dont want it to crack!

Shall i add another layer of padding to the middle so it touches???

someone help :(

I dont understand your situation, you need to explain more, maybe with some paint pictures.

dont worry ive kinda sorted it now i put a couple layers of newspaper under the middle of the padding and it seems to have evened it out! Shall still be crossing my fingers and hoping for the best! :good:

what dont u understand?

the tanks not sitting level.

is it a new tank?

one of my tanks has whats called a floating base. all the edges sit flat to the surface but the actual bottom panel of glass is slightly raised of the floor.

i dont mean like that do ya?

you mean your tanks actually bent?

id take it bak!

That's what mine has - a floating base, hence no need for polystyrene/styrofoam.

What make/model is this rogue tank by the way?

Seeing a pic might be helpful - just concerned that if it is a floating base it shouldn't be supported underneath (i.e. directly in touch with the horizontal base glass) - could create a strain either side of where it's supported if you do?
