I've got a tank full of barbs, and in that tank lives a lone rainbow shark. Recently, I've noticed that he's been quite the aggressive to the other fish. He seems to only pick on the green tiger barbs, but I've seen him go after a few of the regular tigers as well. I'm wondering if it's because of the color of the greens, or just because he's a crap-head.

Suggestions on what to do?

Rainbow sharks are known to be agressive. I have one in my tank and he leaves everyone alone, but i guess i'm just lucky. But like i said, they are a semi-agressive shark. The fish in the tank should be of similar size. I don't know anything about the fisbh you have though.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that he may set up territories in the tank and if your barbs wander in that could trigger him. How many barbs do you have?

Picked on:
6 Tigers, 2 Green Tigers.

Also in the tank but left alone are:
1 Julli Cory
1 BN Plec
3 Neon Rosy Barbs

He WAS peaceful till about a week ago, now he's a huge prick. Can I slap him upside the head and make him cool again?

   Not the best plan.

Do you have area's in the tank where the shark can hide, rock caves, ect? Mine loves his little area's in the rocks. He sneeks into all these little spots.

He's got more than a few places to hide.

methinks he's just a prick.

mine will only chase the other silver sharks :(

but she has tonnes of room but she just wont' leave them alone, the whole tank is her territory

very worrying and she was like this from the start i don't think she's going to stop anytime soon

and maybe urs won't either :(

These sharks are notorious for being aggressive towards their own kind, and fish that resemble them. A green tiger barb, if you stretch the imagination, could be regarded as looking similar to the shark. The aggression generally increases with age.

That was my thought on the greens. They're dark bodied, with reddish fins and markings... I thought it was a strech, but then I remembered he's a fish.

Maybe he picks on the regular Tigers for associating with the Greens so closely. Guilty by association, ya know.

I suppose I'll just deal with it... and call him curse words. No more Green tigers for the tank.
