View First Unread Button?

Not sure if this is the right area to post but in other forums there is a 'view first unread post' button which enables you to jump to the last bit you read. Could we have this added to the functions of the site? Or maybe its already here and I havent spotted it yet! It would be of great benefit when reading lengthy posts like journals......would save me reading the same thing over and over!

Feel free to move this if I have posted in the wrong place.

what does everyone else think?

It seems that at one time the link to go to the last post (on the right showing last post and who it was by) was set up that way. It didn't actually go to the last post but to the first new post. I could be wrong about that though. The same link on the right side of the main index that shows the last thread replied to does go to the first unread post. I guess technically, it would go to the first post since you were last in the thread as it would ahve no way of knowing how many posts you actually read (stopped at post 5 or read through post 15). It would be useful if it can be done.

this made me think of an unanswered posts option.

like how we have the "view new posts" thing at the top. what about something for unanswered posts...or is there a way to do that? because it seems there can be a lot of people that don't get answers and then their post just gets pushed further and further back and people don't see it.

I have had many threads go without any relies, then if I were to bump it or something back to the top, I would get like 10 hits on it.

That would be a neat feature for sure!

I also scroll down the sections and see if anyone has 0 replies, just because I dont like having a thread without any replies, and I am sure other people don't either.

to get to the first unread post in the topic, click the little orange square beside the title.

Thanks Aaron. I learn new stuff everyday on here. I also agree that the idea of a link to all unanswered threads would be nice. Some threads that are put in the section they really should be in, don't get the response they would get if put in TD.

Yeah just a link at the top to unanswered threds in chronological order starting at the most recent. Could go next to my controls as theres room there

to most recent? hmm..i guess it would have to be taht way or we would get the ones from like 2003 or something haha. but it's sorta unfair to the person who posted maybe a few days ago and never got a reply

maybe it could be just like the "view new posts (since my last visit)" thing. it would be "unanswered topics since my last visit"...in not so many words..hmm where's a thesaurus

haha i'm so excited i came up with a good idea
