Oh my!!! It does sound like you've just about had it! I'm so sorry that all this has upset you! Don't make any rash decisions while you're upset...wait! I'm sorry I can't offer help, as I have no experience with the fish you are keeping. Some constructive help would be nice, and I'm sure it will come. This is a great forum....

that tank is way to small for the fish you have im suprised the arowanas growth isnt stunted. they can grow to 100cm! you have 2! poor fish!

thank you so much Sharoncc for understanding what i am going through...yes this is a great forum...i have been reading through a lot of it through the night..brilliant..wish i knew about it earlier...yes im sure theres some out there with some constructive help and advise...i just cant watch my poor mbu suffer like this...i have just done another water change to keep the water as pure as i can for him until he goes to the fish hospital...again thank you sharoncc

hello truckasauras123
i only have 1 arowana not 2..all the other fish including the arowana are in good health...it is only the mbu affected by the ammonia...my water is perfect but have still just done another water change...the arowana was about 3 inches when i got him and has grown so fast..he is stunning and full of fun...

realy confused now !!! just done another 90% water change..and ammonia creeping up again fast...all filters are working ok...ph is 7 to 7.2...but have just put some ph up in...wow realy dont know what is going on here...2 major 90% water changes done ina week...and 20% daily to keep the ammonia down...cannot work this one out

hi have just been to my local fish store FISHEY BUISSNESS and had over an hour of help and consructive advise from them..so all sorted now

I can't figure it out, either, but I'll give it a shot. I wouldn't add any PH adjusters, as it will cause instability, and further stress the fish. Have you added any meds that could have affected the bacteria in your filter media?

just been to my local fish store fishey buissness who gave me over an hour of advise and help..and no cash changed hands..i am ok now...

that size tank is for a full grown mbu...in a years time i am upgrading to a 9ft tank..i get bigger tanks as he grows...i do know about the mbu...i had a 2 1/2 ft mbu in a 10ft tank 5 years ago...i have not slept for 3 nights now trying to get my mbu back to health...a friend said i should ask on here as some one might be able to help..this is not the responce i thought i was going to get...i have kept fish for 20 years now and this is the first major problem i have had..i want help or advice on the ill health of my mbu..not an argument on the size of my tank..as im sure swallow aquatics...fishey buissness...whom i visit evry week and know me very well and my tank...would be the first to let me know if i was doing some thing wrong

Nearly all fish shops aren't out there to make friends. They are out to make money. Selling you the biggest tank they have and one of the most expensive fish they have seems like a good deal to me? We are NOT here to argue or mock you or give you bad advice, we are here to help.
Is the response your wanting some sort of miracale cure? Im sorry, but your probably not going to get one as your problem is most probably an exceptionally cruel captivity.

Ace of Spades is very experienced. When he says a Mbu needs 4000+litres he knows they do. As i also know, Mbu's need a tank of 1000+ gallons.

I dont know if your fish is savable, but your best bet is listening in here.

hello sharoncc...i was wrong about th ammonia rising again...so stressed with this i forgot the test will still show high ammoina...but ammo lock is being put in so the tank is ok...all the other fish are still healthy and eating well...my mbu is trying to get up ...and gets very excited when he sees me...i hold him every now and then to let him know i am still here and not giving up on him...i just dont know how long to leave him like this...its very painful to watch him...he has his full colour back and his tail is fully open ...and these are very good signs.......PS sorry about the above ...new on here and and must have pressed the mouse a few to many times...

Hi

You say that your ammonia levels in your tanks have increased after large water changes. Have you tested your tap water before the water changes? could the water chemistry of your tap water have changed which is having an adverse effect.

just a though

hope he/she pulls through.

hi rocafreestyler...i was so stressed i forgot that using ammo lock would still give me a high ammonia reading...i have tested the tape water and that is fine...we still dont know why this has happend in the first place....just got to get my mbu through this....i have replied to sharoncc just above that will explain more...thankyou so much for your reply..
