OK i have 5 tiger barbs an today i noticed more then usual that one has very very amazing colors like red black yellow and even a little green. The problem is that the on fish is very aggressive hes keeping the other fish away from the the food and chases them around to the point were the other 4 have to hide  . But my loache has no problem with him :hyper: . am worried and kinda think of taking the one male back. :shout: ANY SUGGESTIONS :shout:

Well I've only had my tiger barbs for 3-4 days now and I too have some very agressive tiger barbs (mostly the same 2 which fight against eachother occasionally). I've read online as well as in some of the posts here that 6 and above is the best number to keep tiger barbs to spread the agression so they won't harass one too much.

Tiger barbs order themselves in a hierarchy and the agressive one you have is probably the leader. If you take him out, then the next strongest one will step up and take the lead. Lowering the number of tiger barbs only puts more agression on the few remaining barbs that you have.

As long as your tiger barb spreads his agression equally with the others, I think it will be okay. Also if the other barbs are still able to eat they should be fine. Maybe instead of returning it, just purchase 1 more.

As I think I have may have mentioned to you before .......... you need to increase the number of Barbs also they need quite a bit of swimming space if they are crammed in a small tank they will be extra agressive just taking your male back is not going to solve your problem. If you take the trouble maker back then one of the other Barbs will take his role when he is gone and attempt to be the dominate one.

here is some reading for you: http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/barbs/tigerbarb.phpDon't

just take my word for it do some research.
